A little more about the property

Zermatt luxury catered or self-catered Chalet Penthouse Carmen is our duplex attic apartment located in Casa Vanessa which is perched on a hilltop, yet very easy to get to. This is one of our favourite holiday home because of its warm country farmhouse feel.

Access is very convenient via a tunnel lift which is 200 metres away from the Matterhorn Express base station and, in winter, the end point of the main resort ski run. The church square with its boutiques and restaurants is just five minutes away in the other direction.

With its sloping wooden ceilings and extensive panelling, this cosy duplex attic chalet apartment offers 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

It features a high ceilinged living room with a traditional wood burning fireplace, an open plan kitchen with dining and bar area. Upstairs there is a mezzanine floor with a second living area, which also features a sofa bed and a bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Its sunny south and east facing balconies have plunging views to the river.

Three of the four bedrooms have beds which can be made up as doubles or twins, while the mezzanine has a sofa-bed if you need extra capacity. Carmen envelops her guests in a lovely authentic Alpine charm!

In Winter guests of the penthouse can use a shared wellness area with a sauna and a steam room located in the same building.

Guests can leave theirs skis and boots in the tunnel’s ski-room. The entrance to the tunnel is 200 metres from the end of the ski runs beneath the Matterhorn Express lift station, just a 4 minute walk from the church square.

Our stay at Chalet Carmen so wonderful! Everyone we dealt with at Mountain Exposure, Bronagh, Liv and Syrago, were so helpful and accommodating in every way! The chalet was perfect for our family of 4 and had everything we could need. We especially appreciated the food items left for us to get us through until we had a chance to get to the grocery store!

The chalet was perfect for all our needs – plenty of cupboard space in the bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds and smart bathrooms. The spa was an added bonus. Lovely warm boots every morning too

This was our second stay in Chalet Carmen and it was as lovely as we remembered. Perfectly placed in Zermatt near the lift station and close to the shops it is in an ideal location. It has benefited from new bathrooms and balcony which are all great improvements. The staff in the Mountain Exposure office are so friendly and helpful.

Very nice location close to the lift. Close enough to the city centre with pieces of the old houses still intact. Rooms, bathrooms in perfect condition. Very much enjoyed also the service from the local agency. They really took care of us with a warm welcome. Perfect!
