A little more about the property

Zermatt luxury catered and self-catered Chalet Castor is one of our four unique, and for Zermatt very rare, residences (our Chalet Gemini, Chalet Pollux and Chalet Ibron being the others): a luxurious three storey chalet with 4 double bedrooms.

Its location provides the best of both worlds: spectacular views and easy access. 200m from the Matterhorn Express base lift station and resort run there is a street level tunnel which leads you to a lift (elevator) built inside the mountain, from the top of which there is a gentle 2 minute walk to the property and an exterior stairway. The chalet comes with an electro wagon and stair-lift which our staff will use to move your luggage and shopping as required.

This luxurious ski chalet with 4 bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, large enough for families or groups of 8. All bedrooms can be configured as twins, and have their own TV.

Side by side, tucked against a beautiful hillside, the numerous balconies and large terraces give you bird’s eye views of the village and the surrounding mountains, encompassing all 3 of Zermatt’s ski areas. Although it does not have a Matterhorn view, the sun baths the chalet as soon as it emerges. Chalet Castor is immediately opposite Chalet Gemini which sleeps 10.

The tunnel and elevator bring you up high above the village providing a true sense of high mountain seclusion and tranquility with breathtaking views. Although it does not have a direct Matterhorn view, the chalet is bathed in sun as soon as it emerges.

Guests can leave theirs skis and boots in the tunnel\’s ski-room. The entrance to the tunnel is 200 metres from the end of the ski runs beneath the Matterhorn Express lift station, just a 4 minute walk from the church square.

On the ground floor you have the sitting room and an open-plan kitchen with the dining table, both giving on to the terrace accessed through French windows. There the chalet enjoys the use of its own unique private outdoor hot-tub surrounded by snow (depending on snow conditions), perfect to relax and enjoy the view (or the stars) after a long day in the mountains.

There is also a utility room with washing machine and dryer, and a guest W/C.

We at Mountain Exposure have supervised the tasteful decoration, delicately combining an alpine, cosy and contemporary finish, with liberal use of wood and stone. It has all the latest technology with flat-screen TVs, more than a 150 channels, a fireplace and geothermal heating to reduce the chalet’s carbon foot-print as much as possible.

Zermatt luxury catered ski chalet Castor is a rare gem; a large independent chalet in Zermatt which has been conceived to meet your needs and wishes to the fullest possible extent.

Chalet Castor and Chalet Pollux (sleeps 8) are adjacent to each other and opposite Chalet Ibron (sleeps 8), as well as our other 5 star freestanding chalet, Chalet Gemini, which sleeps a further 10 people. All these chalets may be rented together (Les Perles) enabling a group of up 16, 18, 24, 26 or 34 guests to stay in the same location while benefiting from the space and privacy that only a sole-occupancy luxury chalet can provide.

Accessed through a tunnel on the main street and an elevator. The entrance to the tunnel is 200m from the end of the ski run. From top of elevator its a 200m walk to the chalet, which is at the top of an exterior staircase. 4 minute walk from the church square.

The Castor chalet was a perfect place to stay for a family ski week. The chalet was comfortable. We loved the ski room where we could change out of our boots and go for a walk in the town. It was only 150 meters to the Matterhorn Glacier Express gondola or the bus which would ake us to the Sunnegga area. The kitchen had all the ammenities needed for us to cook breakfasts and dinners after a long day skiing and Apres Skiing. We used the hot tub every night. I was idyllic sitting in the tube with the beautiful view of the Matterhorn. The beds were comfortable. The concierge service made for a stress-free check-in and check-out.

I booked the chalet for our executive team who enjoyed every minute of their stay- perfect location close to the town centre and all the amenities yet secluded enough for a prefect rest. The concierge team is a bunch of highly knowledgeable and attentive professionals who was always on a standby and made things run so much smoother. Would definitely book again
